reverification and delayed access issues

I first used ID.me around 4 or 5 years back. I was still able to log in, but they required me to verify my details again. Since passports and driver's licenses last for around 10 years each, and an SS card lasts forever, I don’t understand why they required a recheck. Then, they denied my passport. It was the same passport they accepted before. They claimed the name didn’t match mine. That was wrong. A month later, they approved the same passport and the same document I provided for it, and the same passport they already had on file. That month of waiting meant I couldn't get my SS 1099 to hand to my CPA for my tax return that was due on April 15, 2025. So I ended up sending it to her late. No, I am not happy with this at all.

really frustrating having to wait

Whenever I use ID.me it takes ages to sign in. I do the identity check again and again but still get turned down. The wait for a video call was way too long; I spent 3-4 hours in all. Really frustrating having to wait for the video call. I spent hours waiting; it said the waiting time was 30 minutes, but it kept getting longer and longer. It took 2 days to get through recreation.gov and ID.me to get a pass for a national park. The two sites don't work together, don't make error messages clear or offer any help to fix problems, and just leave you with a loading circle before timing out.

Sloppy and not good at what they do

I am trying to go on the patent office website and they didn't ensure their ID.me process functioned properly. If you're trying to make a payment you can reach the point where you can put in your credit card details and actually input your credit card information but it doesn't display the payment options it doesn't show the prompt for the application number. It's just not there. So I called I waited for half an hour after dealing with the site for 3 hours and she said oh you have to finish the ID.me process but it gave me like four options for verifying my identity and I picked two different options. But no you need to complete the ID.me. So while she was on the call with me viewing her screen she guides me through the website I've used ID.me before for other websites, so I filled it out and then the two options appeared on the page that I've checked over 100 times. Seriously 100 times. There were just two options that suddenly appeared what's your application ID and the fee list. I typed in my application number there it is! There's my pending patent. I need to pay the fees I choose the fees and they got added to my cart I proceed to pay and the credit card I input earlier is there, and the ID.me process suddenly appears. So the assertion that ID.me didn't verify to ensure it functioned correctly with the website is true: there’s no notice that indicates you need to go back to ID.me anything there's no message indicating this is required. It lets you fumble around with it for 3 hours so you can feel silly because they are Sloppy and they aren't good at what they do. If you can avoid using ID.me, then do it.. Or if you have to use it just be aware that it's unmotivated folks who aren't good at their work..
