avoid this site if you’re not nearby

There's not much safety for tenants; it has more favorable terms for landlords, and the fund transfers take ages (fourth day and the landlord hasn't gotten my payment...) I suggest avoiding this site if you’re not nearby and looking for simple rentals, since July 2023, a housing agreement MUST be on paper in the Netherlands so if you’re trying to find housing there, avoid this site. If you've given the deposit and first month’s rent they might keep your cash and the landlord can "kindly" return it to you but can also take it for "damage", fees for not showing up (it doesn’t count if you had a seizure and woke up on the floor or just didn’t wake up, it's the same for them) could set you back as much as 3000 euros. Avoid it.

typical scam for students

I am a student who planned to stay abroad for some time. I reserved an apartment on this platform and I paid a "Tenant Protection Fee" of 175e, which came with the promise: "If something goes wrong with the apartment, you can cancel your booking 48 hours after you move in." Eventually, things went south, and the agency told me that my cancellation Terms aren't valid for their Terms and Conditions, and I never got my money back, or the rent or the protection charge. Plus, you have to upload pictures when you cancel and this was never brought up as part of the cancellation. It's a typical scam for folks, especially for students who usually don't have extra cash.
