breaks copyright and intellectual property rules

Material on their website breaks copyright and intellectual property rules, since users can take and upload content (current magazine articles, for example) regardless of who created it or how new it is. My work was taken and uploaded to their site, and I attempted without success to get Family Search to delete it. Time wasted on calls resulted in me being told I would need to find the person who unlawfully took and posted my content, to ask that person to take it down, instead of Family Search looking out for writers and respecting the rights of writers, creators, artists and scholars globally by just deleting the piece (clearly copied from a recent magazine).

okay way to pass the time

On November 13, 2021, I’m just beginning to research family history using online sites. I recently paid for one subscription [GenealogyBank] which was disappointing. I've been using the free platform FamilySearch for roughly six months now, and it’s been an okay way to pass the time while being at home during the pandemic. I quickly found errors in my family tree, made by others who were careless with linking records to my grandparents. They were clearly wrong, since I had more knowledge. I fixed them and started the task of correcting the available free info on my ancestors. I soon noticed that some users on FamilySearch cared more about quantity than quality. They weren't exactly "malicious," just careless. FamilySearch allows you to report "malicious" users, but most mistakes I've noticed aren't like that. One more frustrating thing is that users can submit "evidence" for their ancestors to FamilySearch that comes from paywalled sites like Ancestry.com. If you don't have a paid account for Ancestry.com, you can't check or dispute the claimed "records." I’m looking for someone who has used FamilySearch and can help me understand how to check the reliability of sources.
