lousy site with no help

This site is no good. I registered and put up a job, but no contractor has gotten back to me. It's a basic job (drywall repair and painting of a living room), it's not like the job is that complicated. When I tried to reach the contractors that supposedly "match" my project through the site, it sent me to HomeAdvisor.com, and that's another lousy site. Then there's this "request direct quote" button, or whatever it's called, but I still get no reply. I've "directly contacted" three possible contractors and not one of them has replied. For one of them, I've been waiting over a month, so it isn't because of the holidays. My other big issue with the site is that after you post your project, it takes you to a list of "nearby contractors" that suit your project. I live in Arlington MA and the contractors shown were from Florida, California, and Virginia. They're nowhere close to me and aren't useful for what I need. Also, at the Handyman.com site, you can't reach customer support directly. Email is the only way to reach them, but you have to choose a subject and the only options are "Partner with us" or "Become a contractor." Like I said, a lousy site with no help. Don't waste your time - just go to Yelp and find actual contractors with honest reviews.

not happy with using handyman

At first we got a date to begin, took a day off. We got a call verifying they would be there, and I said to the woman yes I'm booked and waiting for them. Then that Monday they didn’t show up. So we called, she informed us it was the following week and made us feel like we were idiots and had the wrong day. That should have been a clue. When they eventually got here (rather than that Monday morning it was around 4 pm) they only removed the old shower. Then they started installing the next day. The following day they installed the enclosure and completed the caulking. Now I got good caulk (gorilla brand) because we wanted to prevent problems in the future. All they did was just put a line without smoothing it even as the product suggests. So then we have a leak around the enclosure and the shower wasn’t great. We called, and since that time they’ve been out a few more times. Admittedly, there were no leaks, but a couple days later the caulking began bubbling. We never received a response from the gal who was collecting our payment and we didn't hear from the person who provided the estimate. You would think he'd check back to check if we were happy. All we received was a bill and since my wife mentioned to this lady the first time we had the leak we ought to receive at least 10% taken off this bill. So the bill arrives and it’s $50 cheaper. That's it. No one from this company has come back or contacted us to see if we’re happy with the job or to actually check on the problem. Seriously? I should say that when they returned to redo the caulking they didn’t use the material I purchased; they opted for a cheaper product... maybe that’s the reason it’s bubbling at the door of the shower? I'm not happy with using handyman. I suppose we received what we paid for. We received another estimate for about $800 more but it likely would have been done correctly. I plan to reach out to my credit card to find out what I can do to dispute this if that’s my only option. But they need to fix it. We’ll wait to see what happens next.
